Okay. The bad relationship stuff is past us, now. We got burned and some of us need to admit that we played a crucial role in the burning. But, God has blessed us with a new year. But…we gotta change our behavior, cuz there’s no “magic” in a new year. We can bring the same stuff from last year (or the last ten years), into 2007.
Remember this:
1) Don’t try to work with a player. You’re not equipped to handle the level of work that’s needed to make him…right. He needs Jesus, first and foremost, and discipleship. If he’s not saved and walking in obedience, he’s not the one.
2) There is such a thing as the “Christian Playa”, unfortunately. Just because he carries a bible and raises his hands during worship service, doesn’t mean he’s committed to godly conduct in relationships. Don’t be tricked.
3) Refuse to become part of the “church display window” crew. You’re not a window dressing, and your sistas in Christ are not your enemies. Trust God to open the eyes of the man, who’s meant to see you. Be most concerned about being a woman of God. Your strength should be tempered with kindness and gentleness.
4) Be discreet. Nothing wrong with letting your pastor and a few trusted folk know you’re dating. But it’s not necessary to have the whole church in on a budding relationship. Cuz if it doesn’t work out, you gotta go back and offer too much explanation. Don’t talk too much.
5) Let God direct the course of the relationship. Resist the urge to hasten things along. However, don’t be a fool. Doesn’t take a godly man too much time to figure out if you’re the woman he should marry. Know when it’s time to “dance or get off the stage”. I’m just sayin’.
