Tis’ The Season for Savages

Remember when the iPhone made its first appearance? I do. What I remember most was the long line that wrapped way past the Apple Store — folks camped out, hoping to be one of the “first” to get their hands on such a prized possession. I believe it was $600, wasn’t it? I forgot the price, but it was ridiculous. That was a much tamer time.

I know Christmas in this here United States, has nothing to do with Christ, for the vast majority of folks. I’ve accepted that, evil (and sad) as that is. I struggle, truthfully, with this world. If it ain’t radical muslim extremists blowing themselves (and others) up, hoping to meet up with enthusiastic virgins in the next life, it’s crazed Walmart shoppers, so intoxicated by the idea of saving a few bucks, that they trample another human being — to death. “Push the doors in“, they chant — so drunk with greed and apathy, that a homicide they caused doesn’t shake them out of their stupor. It’s time to SHOP, till somebody drops…dead, if it has to go down like that. Hey, what’s a man’s life, when a plasma TV is on sale?

Oh…Obama gets blamed for THIS too! Check out the comments (article link above) from America’s “brightest and best”. Just when you thought it was safe to let people think….

Yeah, my forehead got pretty hot about that one!

I think we are, at this time in history, waaaay worse than the citizens of Sodom and Gomorrah! I just wonder if it’s the ozone layer that is keeping the fire from raining down this time…

It is amazing the things we will line up and camp out for — American Idol mediocrity, Makin’ the Band XX tomfoolery, Beyonce’ tickets, seasonal sales — but we (me included) won’t devote that kind of time to Godly pursuits. “Big ups, Jesus!”

    Oh, what weight the Grace.

What a slap in the face to The Christ — that’s why when folks talk about this being a “Christian Nation”, I have to chuckle. We’ve got a nation of church goers, but not a whole lot of disciples. Ichabod — the glory has truly departed. The light has dimmed.

“It is because of the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed”
      (Lamentations 3:22) Selah, indeed.

I hope Walmart does right by this man’s family.

I absolutely hate Christmas. In the last couple years, the ‘Christmas Season” begins earlier and earlier. This year stores had Christmas decorations up starting at least a week and a half BEFORE Halloween!! What’s up with that? Maybe they think that it some how puts customers in a better mood. Well I can tell you that its the exact opposite for me…especially when they start playing a million different renditions of the same five popular christmas songs. Personally I boycotted any store that had christmas decorations or advertisments before Thanksgiving. It doesnt really make a difference in the long run, but it makes me feel better.

I feel ya’ on the retail stores madness — Christmas decorations are going up in…September. It’s all designed to get people to part with their money, cuz hey, that’s what Christmas is all about, right?
