I just recently witnessed something online that confirms what I always knew: Men pay attention to how you interact with them, and respond to you accordingly…which is what I was talking about in a recent tweet.  A friend’s husband echoed the same truth, at lunch today.

You gotta watch how you present yourself…and don’t get too caught up in trying to be liked. It’ll backfire, and your feelings will get hurt. If you present yourself as a free-spirited, sexually adventurous, down-for-whatever,  “party girl”, don’t be surprised when (not “if”) guys forget that you’re a “lady”.

I’ve seen the same guy treat women differently, based on what he perceived he was working with.  All guys have the potential to be “gentlemen” or “lizards”. It would be nice if men would act like gentlemen, regardless of how a woman behaves (and some do)…but that’s not reality and I’m all for keepin’ it real.

So, back to my “tweet”: Establish how you want to interact with men, and behave accordingly.  Men do pay attention to that.
