What it is: The Best Comb for Detangling Nappy Hair
Price: $20-$26
Website: Tressence
The Review:
Jesus, The Anointed One, had something to do with the making of this comb. Had to. I bought one, shortly after I went napptural, and it’s the only comb I use. It’s handmade, seamless (which keeps the comb from “scratching” your hair), and the teeth are wide enough to comb thru tangles with ease. People always email with questions about this comb.
When I detangle, I hand section my hair, wet each section with water, add loads of cheapie conditioner (Suave), twist each section in a knot, go watch a movie or two, and then I take it down and start the comb out, before I rinse and shampoo.
Introducing: The Rake (C7) by Mason Pearson

Mason Pearson (made in Switzerland) combs are expensive. The cheapest I’ve seen for the Rake is about $20. It’s usually around $25/$26. I bought mine from Tressence. The most common question I get is, “Is it worth the price?” Well, if you know me, I don’t like to assign “worth” to any thing, for anyone else. It’s worth it to me. I’m not plagued with split ends, and for someone who occasionally heat styles, that’s a big thing.
I’m about to buy another one…broke a few of the teeth on mine, after stepping on it in shoes. It’s a must have, and I’ll never use anything else.
