Review: Nourish and Shine

What it is: Hair butter for natural hair
Price: $21/4oz
Website:  Jane Carter Solution

The Review:

I was in Whole Foods Market, with the intention of leaving with just a container of Gourmet Gum Drops…I   :love those things. Well, being who I am, I got lost in the beauty products aisle, and walked away with a 4oz tub of Nourish and Shine, the #1 best-selling Jane Carter Solution product.

@ $21 for 4oz, it’s not cheap…but I’d always wanted to try it and decided to go ahead and just…do it. Why not? :dunno

Okay, first let me say that I did NOT apply it to freshly shampooed, clarified hair (which is my usual method when evaluating new products). I applied it on top of my somewhat frizzy, two-strand twists, with slightly “crunchy” ends (from sampling a scrunching gel). I wasn’t expecting anything special, and had already decided to not be disappointed if I got less-than-satisfactory results.

Well…I was pleasantly surprised! It’s true that you do NOT need a lot of this product to feel its greatness. I can be a little heavy-handed with products, but I fought the feelin’, because this stuff is…expensive. It’s a blend of Shea, Illipe, Mango and Kokum butters, along with some vitamins and essential oils. No water.

It totally “de-crunched and de-frizzed” my ends. Softened up the kinks real well. The texture is like…velvet. It melted in my hands…and sunk into my hair. I’m not crazy about Shea butter in hair products (I’ve mentioned that several times), but this product is fantastic. There’s a noticeable scent, which may be a bit strong for some. I like it, and it fades quickly.

I will try it on clean, clarified, damp hair…next time. But at this particular moment in time, I’m delighted how well it performs with other products.

Final Answer:

LoveIt

This is one of my FAVORITE products of all time. This stuff works on my hair wet AND dry. I love the smell as well. I am sure when you try it on on really clean hair, it will feel SOOOO moisturized. Goodness, that stuff is the bomb. If you don’t get anything else from her line, Nourish and Shine is IT.

I gave my jar to my stylist….she had never tried Jane Carter products, and since I have SO much stuff, I thought I’d pay it forward. But yes, it’s a wonderful product!
