My Afroveda products arrived today and I couldn’t wait to try this out! I’ve read mixed reviews and wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. First off, what you read about her jars being filled to the brim is absolutely true! My Ashlii Amala Raspberry Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Mask was a little leaky…the lid was “taped”, but the lid wasn’t tight. So, when I opened my box, I immediately smelled “raspberries”, and noticed conditioner on the foam packing peanuts. No problem, because the jar was still full, even with the leakage.
I don’t like the smell of this product…it smells like “Tide” (the detergent for clothes). I also don’t care for the way it “feels” on my hair…initially. I also have to say that I broke one of my major rules: I used this (for the first time) on top of my Brown Butter Beauty Sweet Milk Detangling Leave-In, so I’m not sure if that contributed to the “weird” feel (kinda “dry”, but…not) on my hair. My hair was already sectioned off, and I applied a small amount to each section. As my hair started to dry, it felt better…pretty soft.
I twisted my hair, using the Pur Whipped Jelly, for extra hold and softness. My twists came out nice and full, with just the right amount of “puff”. Very nice.
Would I buy this again? Not sure. I don’t like the smell, and I know I like the Shea Amla Whipped Butter Cream (that review is next!) better. I need to try it again without the leave-in underneath. I’ll continue to use it, till I use it up, because it’s a good product, with good ingredients…but just not a
