As you may know, I’m on a healthy hair countdown, after doing some damage during a few less-than-friendly combout sessions. I’m on a six-month TLC regimen, than includes special care for winter hair. I’ll alternate products, to keep it fresh and interesting.
What’s it all about? Well, I always pre-poo with conditioner. So, I’ll be using whatever cheapie (Suave) stuff I have in my cabinet. I may mix it with some EVOO. “Gentle” is the word, for detangling.
I have this one teeny-weeny spot at the crown, that gets sore and scabby. So, since my head will be covered with silk scarves and acrylic (not wool!) hats soon, I’m going to try out my Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Shampoo. I’ll shampoo every 8-10 days only.
Next, for deep conditioning. I’ll be alternating between Elasta QP DPR-11, mixed with wildflower honey ( or agave nectar) and my all-natural deep conditioners, with protein.
I’ll be using a leave-in, every time. I have my Brown Butter Beauty Sweet Milk Detangling Cream, along with Afroveda’s Coconut Moisture Milk and Nu Milk Neroli Goat Milk conditioners.
I’m wearing two-strand twists, for the entire winter season. No heat styling, and no “out” styles. I’ll trim (light dusting) when my ends need it. I’ll alternate between my Afroveda, Beauty by Donna Marie and Ohm Body styling products/daily moisturizers. I’ll be using my Brown Butter Beauty Healthy Scalp Serum, to treat my troublesome scalp “spot”, and for scalp massages.
Of course, my hair will be tied up nightly and misted with my Herb-N-Life Headsprung in the morning, to puff up the “flatties”.
Viola! Looking forward to the results
What about you? Do you have a winter care regimen?
A Nappy Girl

My regimen tends to be exactly the same year round: once a week I wash, deep condition, moisturize, puff. I do plan on ‘greasing’ my scalp again (I use Oyin’s BSP). I notice when I do it my hair shedding cuts down a whole lot. Since my natural hair is longer now I plan on doing protective styles-I even joined a challenge on LHCF and plan on constantly being in twists for the last three months of the year. Hopefully that will turn into the entire winter. In the two years I’ve been natural I have only kept twists in for about a total of seven days-literally. That’s just about three days in twists at once, and then two other separate instances of keeping twists in for two days. Pathetic, I know.
Please do provide an update when you use that shampoo-it looks so good. I bookmarked the website.

Tashina,
Protective styling is so worth it. I’m praying that you’ll be able to go thru the entire winter. Your hair will thank you!
My scalp is pretty healthy…except for that one spot. It’s so tiny, but it can get pretty irritated, and I’m not sure why. I will post a review of the Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue shampoo.
