I attended the show, many years ago…it was still in the “infant” stage. Now, it’s much bigger…and much better.  When I attended in the early beginnings, I could tell it was going to grow into something marvelous. If you’re seriously considering going natural, but are a little fearful of the “unknown”, attend the show….it’ll push you over the edge.

A Nappy Girl

I have to give a shout out to the three BEAUTIFUL sistas I met in the mall today….three incredibly gorgeous, nappy-haired women, who took the food court by storm!

I almost missed an opportunity to tell them how they “worked the room”, because of that “female thing”, that creeps up and whispers in our ears, “Don’t say anything. They’ll think something is wrong with you”. We are quick to tear down another female, but slow to build one up.  But…God gave me a second chance to change my way of thinking, and share what was on my heart. I caught them coming around the second time,  and decided to get over my issues at that moment, and speak!  What a blessing!

We talked for at least 15 minutes, and I found a napptural stylist who will come to my house, and hook up the hair (at a reasonable price)…which was an ANSWER to prayer. We connected, and affirmed one another…in the ways that only women can do for one another. It was minus all things “fake”.  It was a most beautiful thing. If we only knew what God has put in us, to heal and bless one another!  Cuz a lot of times, the brothas (black men) are so mesmerized by women whose features don’t look like ours. That’s the truth, and I will not lie to protect the guilty.

Anyway…thanks to the women who rocked the food court today. Rock on, my sistas…rock on!

A Nappy Girl

Read this first.

Now, give Lisa a heart-felt handclap (if you’re a single, Christian woman). Or, don’t.  I’m just glad I got a chance to read an article for single Christians, written by a single Christian, who’s older than twenty-five.

If you know me, you probably know that I think the vast majority of married Christians have no business being the primary resource for ministry leaders, for single Christians. Many don’t have the spiritual sensitivity (I remember reading an article, by a Christian married woman, that basically stated marriage was a much “higher” calling, than singleness…), nor the experience that comes from living the single life, everyday, far past the age of twenty-two.

BTW, I challenged “Mrs. Married Saint”, respectfully (via email) and NEVER got a reply, a rebuttal or just a confirmation she even got my email. I guess she figured her calling was much too “high”, to be concerned with the spiritual condition of those, with a much…lower calling. Do I sound like I’m still ticked off? Maybe I am, cuz I still get emails from my younger Christian sisters, who are trying to figure out why the heck they can’t “be found” by a good man. They fake it, while at church. Sometimes church is the most painful reminder that you’re not “virtuous” enough. But when they’re at home, they can’t hide the disappointment and the pain. Shame on the Body of Christ!

Since my “deprogramming” about fifteen years ago, I’ve been able to live a happier, more content single life. I’ve had a few bumps along the way (that have actually lessened my desire to marry), but I don’t have too many “sad” days. God is SO good! EL Roi sees ME, and knows my name!
